NAATA and the American Automotive Shippers Association (AASA)

NAATA and the American Automotive Shippers Association (AASA) are pleased to announce that, starting in 2012, members will automatically have membership in both associations. Many members are already members of both associations and have asked the associations to arrange for members to have automatic dual memberships.

Both associations will continue to exist as separate entities. But there will be one process for signing up to be a member and one process to renew memberships. Membership dues will only have to be paid once. Companies that join/renew will have membership in both associations and it will only be possible to join/renew as a member of both.

This agreement was made by the board of directors of both associations at the NAATA International Dealer Conference in New York in October. We are very happy to finalize and begin our new arrangement, making both organizations more effective in serving our members.

The membership structure will follow the AASA membership structure. There will be two classes of members for both organizations: 1) Privileged members; and 2) Associate members.

Both privileged and associate members will receive a free listing in our directory of vehicle exporters and importers, will receive the NAATA newsletter, discounted delegate fees for the annual conference, the PIERS report as it is made available to the associations, and a listing on the website for dealers that want to sell cars to Canadian consumers. Our directory will now only publish information on members of the association and complimentary trade organizations. Non-members will no longer be able to publish in the directory. There will no longer be a separate fee for listings.

For more information on the new membership structure, please contact Michael O’rourke – Executive Director at naata@naatatrade.org. On behalf of both the NAATA and AASA boards, we welcome you to this new era of cooperation and look forward to promoting the interests of international vehicle export and import in 2017.
